Gary has over 15 years of drainage, civil and building experience, starting his career at Savory Construction and then Glasgow Contractors, before starting Almond Contractors in 2013.

Gary loves creating solutions for his clients and can always be found on site ensuring the job is done to the Almond standard.

In Gary’s spare time, you’ll find him mountain biking, spending time with friends and family including his partner and two dogs.

Registered Drainlayer

Carl joined the team as an Apprentice Drainlayer, completing his apprenticeship in 2023.

Carl has 14 years of experience in civil works as a skiller labourer, machine operator, drainlayer and truck driver.

Carl specialises in building structures, retaining, and seeing general civil works from start to finish.

Carl relaxes on the weekend with his wife, two kids and dog.

Skilled Labourer

James is a skiller labourer and general all rounder. James brings his positive and eager to learn attitude to all the jobs he is on and is an all round great asset to the team.

James enjoys fishing with his brother and spending time with his two dogs.

Certified Plumber and Drainlayer

Carl is an experienced Certified Plumber and Drainlayer. Carl gained his qualifications at Laser Plumber and Drainage.

Carl winds down by watching speedway and spending time on his property with his sheep, wife and young son.

Tony is Almond Contractors newest team member. Tony comes from a trucking background where he has spent the last few years trucking around the North Island. Tony is looking for a lifestyle change where he will now be completing his Drainage Apprenticeship, starting in 2024.

Joe is completing his Plumbing and Drainage Apprenticeship.

Joe likes to spend his weekends with friends exploring New Zealand’s back country with his 4WD.

Project Manager

Bachelor of Chemical and Engineering Degree (Hons)

Kerwyn has spent the last eight years in the water industry in New Zealand and Australia with operational engineering and project delivery experience in all three waters.

In his spare time, Kerwyn enjoys spending time with friends, family, bouldering and running.

Apprentice Drainlayer

Dylan recently joined the team as an Apprentice Drainlayer and is learning the craft of drainage while building his skills and experience across our civil projects.

Dylan holds Wheels, Tracks & Rollers and Class 1 and 2 licences and is developing his knowledge across all aspects of civil and drainage work.

Outside of work, Dylan is a keen rugby league fan and a big Warriors supporter.

Drainlayer

Drivers Licence 1–4, WTR

Leroy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across civil and drainage, with particular expertise in larger diameter pipework.

Leroy holds Wheels, Tracks & Rollers and Class 1–4 licences and has extensive experience working across a range of civil and drainage projects.

Outside of work, Leroy enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and is a keen rugby league fan.

Yard & Transport Support

Alec plays an important role behind the scenes at Almond, helping keep the trucks moving, the yard functional and the team onsite topped up with the materials they need.

Along with being Gary’s stepfather, Alec is a valued part of the Almond team and helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Outside of work, Alec enjoys spending time with Gary’s mum, their dogs Tui and Paua, and watching rugby or league on the weekend.

Accounts & Administration

Christa looks after the Almond Contractors accounts and administration and has had over 10 years experience working with tradespersons
